We could personally state that, Interstellar is one of Christopher Nolan’s many masterpieces. With a excellent cast and their superb performance, it feels more like a movie oriented in human emotions and human interactions, rather than a Sci-Fi movie.

Not recently ago, I saw a documentary on YouTube, about Hans Zimmer, and his inspiration on composing Interstellar’s music score. Between the lines, I did managed to catch the Nolan’s statement, that he wanted to help Zimmer, and as inspiration, Nolan gave to Zimmer some keywords, just to help set up the ambient for music, and he said to Zimmer: “Your music should reflect your emotion toward your son”. This phrase made me think hard about the emotions and story plot through the whole movie. Thank God I did watch the documentary after I have watched the movie about 3-4 times. It helped me complete my opinion about the plot. It has to do with Father-Child relationship, specially the very specific relationship beyween Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and Murph (Mackenzie Foy). It has to do with the promise that Cooper gave to Murph, that he will be back, for her.

It’s not a Sci-Fi movie, it’s a Drama, embellished with Sci-Fi elements, which are supported by Kip Thorne work, on visualizing how would a black hole should look like, and how gravity changes would affect our reality.

On the other hand, we have the overall theme, which is Planet Earth survival, or how we are destroying our world. Many of my friends, who had the pleasure of watching this particular masterpiece, did watch it as Sci-Fi work, but for me personally, it had more to do with the “dual plot” dramas, on one hand Father-Child relationship, and on the other hand, our struggle to save Planet Earth.

As expected, cinematography is very exquisite, up to a certain point, since it is a perfect balance between sci-fi elements, and human drama, as mentioned before, supported by mathematical work of Kip Thorne. Editing is flawless, giving us more time to concentrate in human emotions that actors strive to impact us. Having said this, Matthew McConaughey, really did shine on this movie, aside Anne Hathaway and Michael Caine. For my personal taste, which was very appreciated by me, other actors did nothing much, which let me concentrate more on Cooper and Murph.

I would really suggest this masterpiece to every Sci-Fi lover, as a refresher, so beside Science Fiction, they could enjoy the Drama side.
